I have an old IBM ThinClient that has been my caching name server for my home network for years based on RedHat 6.2.  I've attempted to upgrade to DSL and add some Samba printers to this machine.  However, it doesn't seem that there is a way to configure DSL to be a name server.  Has anyone else acccomplished this?

interesting.  This is a small dns server designed for home networks.  I did get as far as compiling the source but did not pursue it much further. I stop once I try tried to start it up without following the documentation of course and it ended up knocking out my internet connection accross my whole home network.  I had to go into the my router and refreshes all my dhcp connections.  I figured I should wait until I had time to experiment outside my working network.  But I think it would be a great DSL addition.
