Been struggling a bit with my wireless card, works for an hour or so then drops. Really don't want to get into a wireless troubleshooting thread, please.

Been thinking about trying powerline ethernet. < Netgear XE102 >

Price isn't too bad.

Since DSL works very well with wired NIC's, could it be this easy? Just remove my wireless card and plug my wired NIC into this adapter with the second one plugged into the router/cable modem?

Maybe I'm missing something. Any thoughts?

Ah, is there anything sadder than an unanswered question? I've ordered a couple after a lot of research. Seems to be a really rugged option and may really be handy for others given all of the wireless NIC questions and posts. Most of the reviews are along the lines of "threw out the wireless, this is what I've been waiting for". Hopefully, my wired NIC will just grab an IP address and I'll be running.

My experience with this technology was not positive. It worked for a little while and then it stopped. Maybe you will have better luck.

Another option you can consider, is to get something like a gaming adaptor

or something like it. This one does not have great range but it works. You can connect a short ethernet cable from your computer to it and set up the lan connection to be on the same network as your pc. The lan ip needs to be stactic on the adaptor. Then set the wireless connection on the gaming adaptor to match your router wireless settings (i.e. wep, channel, ssid). Set your computer to get it's ip using dhcp.

This seems to work for me but as I said the range on this device is not very good (a couple of rooms from the router).

I'm using < Aztech HL100E(UK) >. It works fine in my house (with 2 Mbps ADSL and < Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router >).

Well,

THe two units arrived yesterday. Pulled the wireless NIC and put it away. Plugged both in, successfully grabbed an IP from the router and I'm off in five minutes. Absolutely no configuration needed. Hope it keeps working.
