Netgear WG511 on an ibm 600Forum: Networking Topic: Netgear WG511 on an ibm 600 started by: Doctorslicer Posted by Doctorslicer on Oct. 28 2006,18:45
Hi all,I've got DSL 3.01 working nicely on my IBM 600. Everything but networking. The only card I have is a netgear WG511. I see that there are number of versions for this, I believe mine in a Version 1, I do I get: cardctl info 0 PRODID_1="Intersil" PRODID_2="ISL3890" PRODID_3="-" PRODID_4="-" MANFID=000b,3890 FUNCID=254 the lights don't blink when the card is inserted i run dmesg and the last line is: PCI: Enabling device 01.00.00 (0000 -> 0002) when I run: modprobe prism54 i get errors. int_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused ...blah blah dmesg says: Loaded prism54 driver, version 1.1 however, when i do an lsmod prism54 does not show up in list Any ideas? Anything for me to try? Thanks Terry Posted by roberts on Oct. 28 2006,18:59

I don't know if this is the exact one or not. 37. Card: Netgear WG511 54Mbps Cardbus adapter * Chipset: Intersil Corporation Intersil ISL3890 Prism GT/Prism Duette? (rev 01) * pciid: 1260:3890 * Driver: Netgear windows driver Version: NETGEAR, Inc.,06/04/2004, shipped with the setup CD * Other: Slackware 10 - kernel 2.6.9-rc2 - Ndiswrapper 0.10; works very good at 54Mbps, also with WEP (64bit) everything looks the same, except I'm not sure if the PCIID is the same as the MANFID. mine is MANFID=000b,3890 Another interseting thing is when I do a: lspci -vv I get 0000:01:00.0 Network Controller: Illegal Vendor ID: Unknown device 3890 (rev 01) Subsystem: Negear: Unknown device 4800 Thanks, Terry |
