orinoco gold is well supported. What is the output of iwconfig with no parameters? Are you using wep? Posted by abracadabra on Nov. 16 2006,20:04
I have tried both web and no wep. I dont know how to copy the output of a shell command so i can paste it here. THe link quality is 0/92 though and access point is 44:44:44:44:44:44:. I have tried, sudo iwconfig | beaver, but it doesnt work. I also have a xircom wired card hooked up to a different router. I dont think im having a IP confict as currently im on 192.168.0.1 and have tried 192.168.2.1 for wireless. My router is a dlink DI- 524 and is on mixed mode not just 802.11gedit: if its any help i have a flashing light on this card when the n/w is down. When using Ad-Hoc with wlanconfig it stays on but still doesnt work. but i asume i want default managed. Also in dmesg i have " error setting multicast list! Posted by roberts on Nov. 16 2006,20:18
Cut and Paste is covered in the Gettting Started document. Click Dillo if you have disabled it. Use mouse to highlite area from shell and then paste by using clicking third button in forum reply area, or two button emulaton.I doubt your access point is 44:44:44:44... How have you tried to configure it? Manually or gui. You should be able to the iwconfig gui in the dslpanel. I use orinoco pcmcia card and the iwconfig gui works fine. CAn i use Ad-Hoc mode to conect to my router? Cheers edit: I have tried gui, which doesnt let you select your ip etc and also ive tried ifconfig 192.1688.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255 up Posted by roberts on Nov. 16 2006,20:49
So, you are using a static.IP on a wireless?Your ifconfig displays an IP. If you are setting up a static.IP, then you also need to add the nameserver and default gateway. Perhaps that is what you are missing. Posted by abracadabra on Nov. 16 2006,21:00
I have added them when doing a gui setup with iwconfig. COuld there perhaps be a conflict with the two cards? If i do get this wireless working will i be able to use both of the cards at the same time ie access both routers through firefox

Incase anybody is interested i have fixed the problem and can now access the net*. Believe it or not my router must be no more than 20cm away from my wireless card or i get no reception!! yes 20cm!! Im going to google this now and see if theres anything i can do about this very serious problem. I have a D-Link DI-524 and a belkin fd6020 orinoco wireless card. Anybody has any ideas i will be checking this post for them. cheers
