No Connection At All

I am the complete and total king of the newbies when it comes to linux. I am booting on a live CD, when its done booting everthing is ok except the internet. I don't have it, how should I fix this and sorry for the complete newbie question. Thanks, Andrew

What kind of adapter are you using?
USB, PCMCIA, Mini-pci, PCI
What brand?
What kind of network? Wired/Wireless?
What type of connection router? DHCP, Static IP?

Just saying "It doesn't work" is a VERY broad statement and does nothing to help track down the cause of the problem.
