I'm trying to connect to the internet running DSL. My router is not running DHCP and I have no network card(on board ethernet). I have a wireless network card( LINKSYS WMP54G) but that was not recognized. My motherboard is a Foxconn NF4UK8AA-8EKRS.
Thanks

There are several versions of Linksys WMP54G. Which one is yours? If it isn't labeled, it is probably version 1. I didn't see a version 1 on the list at ndiswrapper's site though. Look hard for a v# somewhere. WMP54G v2 is on the list of cards that work with DSL, using ndiswrapper.

Is your card a pci or usb card? Run "lspci" or "lsusb", whichever is appropriate. See if you can get the idVendor and idProduct numbers. Together, they are in the form xxxx:yyyy.

Do you know how to use ndiswrapper? ndiswrapper is a utility that allows you to use Windows drivers with linux. It is usually easier, because a lot of cards don't come with linux drivers. There is a tutorial on their site, ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net. There is also an easy to use gui included with DSL, accessible from the dslpanel.

Good luck.
