First, hi everybody here.

I have successfully installed DSL on my AMD K6-300 based PC. Now I want to make a DSL connection through my Elcon ADSL2253EU modem/router. It has both USB and Ethernet and I'm using it with Ethernet. The modem/router is in normal modem mode, e.g. I have to connect manually in windows every time because I have problems with router mode. The net card is Realtek 8139-based (in the same machine I have also D-Link DFE-530TX, I can use it too). I used the built-in pppoe setup wizard which made a "dsl-provider" file to connect. But in the file I haven't found the password so I added it manually. I can normally enter Elcon's control panel (192.168.1.1) and the connection seems to be working, but I cannot view web pages.

Please help!

P.S. I'm a Linux noob, extreme noob...please make it easy-to-understand :)

Can you ping 4.2.2.2?
Code Sample
sudo ping 4.2.2.2
? If so, then it is a dns misconfiguration. Verify this by trying to ping google.com. If you can ping 4.2.2.2, but not google, then it is dns.

Check /etc/resolv.conf. What is in that file?

If you can not ping 4.2.2.2, then your problem is something else.
