ipw2200 with 2.4.26 kernelForum: Networking Topic: ipw2200 with 2.4.26 kernel started by: WDef Posted by WDef on Feb. 01 2007,22:59
Has anyone managed to get their ipw2200 wireless card working with current dsl ie 2.4.26 kernel? If so, please share. The drivers in the repo are for 2.4.31 kernel ie no later than dsl-2.1b, and work. But it would be nice to use a current dsl on wireless. I've tried: 1. Compiling backported 2.4.xx ipw2200 1.0.1 drivers against 2.4.26 prepared sources using gcc-2.95 - failed so far. I suspect the development environment is not quite right. Perhaps if there's anyone with a Knoppix 3.4 hard drive install or (eg) RedHat9 with a 2.4.26 kernel they could try? 2. ndiswrapper on the WinXP driver - no good so far. I've done some googling, results thusfar:According to the list on the ndiswrapper site, ndiswrapper should work (v8.1.1.0 but not v8.0) but the link to the recommended version of the Windows driver there is dead. I haven't been able to compile ndiswrapper on dsl. One report indicates there is a Windows driver which is supposed to work with ndiswrapper on a Sony at < ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/Vaio/WLAN/WLD_int_80129000.exe > However dsl's ndiswrapper with this driver locks up the system on modprobing. Unless someone has a solution, I guess it's dsl-2.1b or dsl-n for ipw2200 for now. This is a very common wireless card in laptops, including HP/Compaq, Vaio, etc so a solution might be of use to a number of people. Posted by Multitudes on Mar. 26 2007,20:20
