Dell Inpirion 2500 256mb ram 867 mhz

cannont get the laptop network card up. liveCD, HD Install, do not work. I checked the dmesg and did not see anything about the network card. I checked the bios and minipci lists modem and I cant change it. No lights on network port green or amber. I am thinking that the port is bad. Its not loose or anything. I think it might be a 3com according to the Dell website.

3Com 10/100 & V.90 LAN Mini-PCI

it has a ethernet port and a modem right next to it on the right side. If there is anything I can do let me know. Its just to help a friend get online. I plan to use a pcmcia network card if I can find one tomorrow. I will check back in the morning to see if there are any suggestions. I am not sure if this is supported by DSL. Other than that DSL ran great on the notebook.

This card will work with the standard '3c59x' Linux driver as part of any recent 2.4 or 2.6 kernel

Just an aside - if I can use Google, so can you

So try opening a root shell and typing:
Code Sample
modprobe 3c59x
