Hello,
Downloaded and burned DSL to CD and it works great except it cannot detect my network hardware which is integrated on the mobo.
This is my hardware:

Gigabyte K8NS mobo
AMD 64 Sempron 3400+
PNY Nvidia GeForce 6600GT video
ACER AL2416Wd and Sony SD81 (dual monitors)
Seagate 80GB SATA and Maxtor 40GB PATA drives

When I run netcardconfig it tells me <no supported network cards found>

lsmod doesn't show anything resembling the module(s) I believe I need.
(maybe i2c_nforce2 and i2c_core)

Is there a way to resolve this?

You can try to grab the latest drivers from nvidia.com and compile them.

Others seems to use the "forcedepth" module that seems to be included in DSL 2.1b (2.4.31 kernel versions)

Can you tell me how to use the forcedepth module?

Would that be done with modprobe?

yes (or insmod)

The version of DSL I downloaded has kernel 2.4.26 - how do I get the version with the 2.4.31 kernel?   This one is labeled 'current' and has the date of 1/17/07.

Here is what I get when I try to modprobe forcedeth:

/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/net/forcedeth.o: init_module: No such device
Hint:  insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or in the output from dmesg.
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/net/forcedeth.o:
 insmod /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/net/forcedeth.o: failed
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/net/forcedeth.o: insmod forcedeth failed

Syslog is empty and dmesg gives only this:

<6> forcedeth.c: Reverse Engineered nForce ethernet driver

Where to go from here ??

Again, the others have only seemed to get that driver to worth with 2.4.31 kernel versions.
If you want to try them, please see my previous posts in this thread.

Thank you very much for the help.  I found the 2.4.31 kernel and it works great.
