I have a ibm i Series 1300 laptop. It has an internal Lucent modem that dsl will not find. I've tried all the ports in the dialup config program. So now I'm looking for a pcmcia modem to use on this machine. What modems work with dsl out of the box? I'll take 33.6K because my connection out here is only 21.6-24k, but if there is a 56k one thats cheep I'll take it too.

this is the only problem I've had with this laptop.... everything else works.
thanks

It has an internal Lucent modem

DSL supports most Lucent Winmodems.

If you watch as DSL boots it displays a message that it found one.
The special device to use is /dev/ttyS14
DSL automatically links /dev/modem to this special device.

I tried the ttyS14 and tried to dial and it came up saying no such device. On boot there is nothing saying anything about a modem. and of course i tried the auto detect on the dailup setup and it found nothing.
