I got realtek 8139too that dsl does not recognize, even if i run ifconfig eth0 or netcardconfig still comes as unknown, every other linux has recognize this card. any idea on what to do.

i fixed my own problem, any how for anyone who might run into the same problem the solution was to disable plug & play and bang it works.

I forgot to mention my network card is intergrated into the motherboard

plug and play os yes/ no or some similar choice is, or should be in your bios setup. this can be accessed by pressing del key at initial boot up, and might even be F1, F2, F10, ect..., depending on manufacturer.
