is there a way to use DSL to login to a terminal server once the distro has been launched ??

what type of terminal server. people have used dsl to connect to various types in the past.

for M$ terminal server, you use Rdesktop, for *nix, we have many clients available - telnet, ssh, etc.

or could be citrix or something similar

Ctrix = no built in terminal client software in DSL.

Otherwise,

rdesktop = Microsoft
vncviewer, XWindows server = unix and others

I was thinking more on the lines of a thinclient server I am trying to set up skolelinux for a school in El Salvador and so far I have to use a boot disk and Pilot linux to loggin to the LTSP server , I cant get the boot disks from romomatic to work So I thought DSL is mall enough to fit in the 1 gigabyte hardrive on the thinclients but  so they have something to fall back in case the network goes down and a the same time I might be able to use a thinclient package if there is any for DSL???.
any Ideas ??

have you looked at thinstation.  It is very small and supports, NT Term Svc, W2K and Windows 2003 TS.  And many others

I have tried everything I came across and the only thing that has worked so far is using a knoppix cd and doing a failsafe boot at the command prompt typed X -broadcast and that logged me into my terminal server faster than pilot linux
I am thinking in doing a poor man's install of Knoppix to my one gigabyte hard drive pentium ones make boot disketsa with directions on how to boot locally (very sloww due to the amount of memmory available ) or remotly to a LTSP server lightinning fast with as little as 16 meg memory

oh, so this is an x redirection based thin clienty thingy. i am not sure if Xvesa can handle that. try Xvesa -broadcast, it might work. if not then try hdinstalling and installing XF86.

prb1412: yeah, thinstation is great and really small (16mb or something like), it will not do the neccessary as far as i know though :(
