Hi im a newbe at this and i hope you have some suggestions on how to get an internet connection on DSL.

My service is verizon and I use a westell wirespeed modem model#a90-210015-04.

I try to connect to the internet in DSL on a LiveCD through ethernet and usb and it doesn't seem to work.:(

What can be the problem? ON widows 98 & XP I had to use a driver can that be it?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

My guess is that you should be able to make the ethernet connection and then run the pppoe config script and enter your username and password and get online.

This assumes that your network card is working properly.  What kind of network card do you use?

Also, you might try asking this guy.  It appears that he got DamnSmallLinux to work with Verizon and the wirespeed modem:

And for windows I usually never use my password to connect to the net. My network card is -Narional Semiconductor Corp. DP83815/816 10/MacPhyter PCI Adapter.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you have any other ideas?

You could be having problems with your network card.

Try typing this:

lsmod | more

and see if you have a natsemi or a tulip  listed.

Then try something like:

sudo modprobe natsemi

and then run the PPPoE config.

Also, there have been reports of strange behavior of this NIC in Linux after installing a certain MS Windows XP security update.
