To see if the device is working.
Open a shell (xterminal) and type "ifconfig wlan0" with no quotes.
This will return 'lo" info like 127.0.0.1
and
"wlan0" with mac and ip info.

If not try, right clicking on the desktop ,go to 'system' ,'control panel' click prism2 set ssid -n- wep ,
then click Wlanconfig also in control panel add all info you know.

Good luck!
This worked with my D-Link usb and Linksys pcmcia cards.

Need info ,what is dsl loaded on ? (hardware) laptop, desktop .
Is it cd load or HDinstall?
ifconfig wlan0 will only tell you if you have a device installed, if you get an error . (What is it ?)

HELP ME TO HELP YOU!

Are there  lights on USB if so are they lit flashing or anything ?
Did you boot with the device  plugged in ?
Did you see boot message sum sum about hot plug ?

I am using D-Link DWL-122 Wireless usb adapter 11M 802.11b
I did a HD install
I went to control panel and clicked prism2
I set channel:  sid: wep: clicked ok
This got my card to light pwr and link lights steady
I then clicked wlanconfig also in control panel and put all info that I needed and left blank the rest
I think this set the adapter to dhcp
This would be fine if I did not have a firewall but I do and need static ip
So I set backup also in control panel to the partition I installed to hda6
Then I opened beaver and found /etc/lilo.conf and put nodhcp in the file line that says append clicked save and
opened shell and typed lilo -v
I then went to Emelfm and found /home/dsl/.xinit and put # in front of the word dillo just to stop the dillo start thing from poping up at each boot and did same at /root/.xinit
I then went to Emelfm and found /opt/bootlacal.sh and added these lines

/opt/myprism2.sh
ifconfig wlan0 ip 111.222.333.444
route add default gw 555.666.777.888

I found /opt/myprism2.sh YOU SHOULD TO
When I reboot I am on the static ip 111.222.333.444 you may want a different address because I am Using that one

This is new since reading more posts here..........
I have also added "ifup wlan0" without quotes to /opt/bootlocal.sh
now looks like this

ifup wlan0
/opt/myprism2.sh
ifconfig wlan0 ip 111.222.333.444
route add default gw 555.666.777.888

Don't know why but it may add sys controll.
It worked fine without but I got an error  " like hard start device .....forced blah.blah"
Linux and I are new friends so if I jump off a bridge Will You?

This setup is also now working with a card I pulled from a dead
                  linksys wireless ethernet bridge
This card is labeled wpc11 and reasembles to a "T'  wpc11 ver.3  except for the cable the rubber antenna and pretty label also linksys

So if the old wet11 stops working pull the pcmcia card and start hacking.
real nice setup for a cantenna.

PS...If you people still using windoze were wondering it does work on that OS with driver from wpc11 ver.3
