Help with wireless USB adapters, pleaseForum: Networking Topic: Help with wireless USB adapters, please started by: tenexmag Posted by tenexmag on Mar. 28 2005,15:04
I'm almost all the way lost as to what to do to get either of these two devices working properly in DSL. I have downloaded the tar.gz's for the Belkin, and am unsure what to do with them now. Is there some magical way to compile and run them that I have missed? If so, could someone write some directions for doing so? There is no way for me to hardwire the computer to my router. I have a linux compatable NIC, but, I have a lack of cable, and the distance the Cat-5 would have to cover/go around is too great to run it anyway. I'm really looking to ditch Windows, but I cannot do so until I get one of these configured and working properly. Posted by Waterns on Mar. 29 2005,16:32
Belkin wasnt originally included with Knoppix (or so I am told). I suggest you get a Netgear wireless USB. See the list of know working wireless cards (< Verified Wireless Card---List >). At of all of them the Netgear ones popup most often.
