Hi,

I tried running DSL Live on my office computer, a 300 MHz with 48MB RAM

It runs, but I can't get the Dialup Connection to work.

Methinks that DSL is not seeing the modem. I don't have any specifics (since I'm not on that machine now).

However, can someone tell me what I might do to have DSL find the modem (on COM2) and to configue it properly? How can I check whether the modem is there or not?

Thanks,
Mark

Ditto. My modem is on Com 3. Went to dial-up PPP->Config and used ttyS2 (from System>>Net Setup, if you haven't used dial-up PPP yet Mark, you might have some luck). But when I hit dial, I get the error message "Can't get terminal parameters: I/O error."  What am I doing wrong?  How do you turn on the modem "sounds" so that I know if it's doing something?

Thanks...

Try different modem ports for the PPP config.

Sometimes your "COM2" port in Windows becomes "COM4" equivalent in Linux, for example.

/dev/ttyS0 = COM1
/dev/ttyS1 = COM2
/dev/ttyS2 = COM3
/dev/ttyS3 = COM4
etc...

Try a bunch of ports.  One of them might work.

Oh right, sorry to waste everyone's time:D . In fact, I searched the forums and found this: < "Modem not detected" >.

It seems that my modem is probably a software modem and I have to install Linux drivers for it.  Cuz I did try out all the different ports and I finally got some "chatter" on Com 1. (I got a bunch of messages, "SEND, ATZ, etc..")  HOWEVER, when I make it dial my cell, no dice.  When I pick up the phone to see if it is doing anything, again nada.
