I can set up my prism 2 card at home to use my network I have to enter essid into Prism2 to make it take. I then use Netcarcconfig DHCP broadcast and it comes up OK. Open Dillo and everything works. Must be done at every boot, I have instsalled to hd.If you try prism2 using essid any or empty it doesn't work. I tried Wlanconfig and iwconfig from the control panel and from console nothing works. How do you set up for a hot spot if you are not sure of the essid SFPL, SFpl etc.? DSL is the only live cd that actualy works with prism2, unless I am missing something. kd6fvi Posted by kd6fvi on May 05 2005,02:18
Well I finally answered my own question. Wavemon gives some information about what you are seeing. Still don't see ssid names. Will work on that Answer on Wavemon came from Linux Journal Sept 04. Posted by hawki on May 12 2005,19:14
This has been driving me crazy too but I think I have found a way to make it work. The Prism2 script needs to pass something to the actual script that does the setup (prism2.sh). Try one of the two following methods if your interface is wlan0.1. Run prism2.sh without the setup script not giving it a SSID sudo prism2.sh wlan0 2. Use the Prism2 pushbutton and on the line asking for SID put in double double quotes. "" That in effect sets the SSID to blank. I have not yet tested this at a hotspot but it does work on my network without specifying an SSID. good luck Posted by kd6fvi on May 20 2005,03:09
Thanks, seems towork at home will try tomorrow morning at cafe. The laptop is T3600CT 50MHz 486 with 24MB. No CD. It is much slower than Win95 but the pcmcia MiLan 1897 works on DSL not on w95. |
