Hi. Downloaded DSL and HD-installed it on an old laptop. (K6-333 Mhz). Goes like lightning. What a great little distro. BTW i'm a complete linux nOOb, but i learn fast.
Want to use the DSL-box as a webserver. I installed the Samba dsl-extention. Took me a while to find out i had to manually start smdb and nmdb before the dsl-box was accessable from my main comp. Wrote the (very simple) smb.comf from scratch......and it works!!!!
However the only share that i can write to from my main comp is the /tmp. dir.

Also shared the /opt/monkey-0.8.2/htdocs/. I can read this share from my main comp but it wont let me write to it!! (the sections in the .conf are similar!)
Can anyone tell me what's wrong? searched the forum, but can't find the answer.

It's probably due to the permissions of the shared directory.  /tmp is 777 which makes it writeable by everyone.

Typically file shares would be directories set up specifically for file sharing (at least that's the way i look at them), with the appropriate permissions set.  Most directories on a standard linux system are writeable only by root.  On DSL, /opt is an exception...owned by root, with staff as group, so the user 'dsl' can write to it (dsl is a member of the 'staff' group).  If you were to connect to your shares as a member of the group 'staff' (50), you should be able to write to htdocs.
