have just started running dsl on an old 300mhz computer. I want to use a linksys wireless g usb network adapter to access the internet. (the router is hooked up to a winxp computer).

I have the adapter plugged into a usb port, but it is not linking up with the router.

Very new to linux and dsl.

please help.

if you dont have any linux specific drivers you need to use ndiswrapper located in the DSLpanel

insert a cd with drivers and type path

and so on...

As UndCon suggested, you can use ndiswrapper for almost any chipset, but it makes more sense to use a dedicated Linux driver if it's already available in DSL.
Help us help you by providing more information ... mainly, model number, taking note of any revision numbers.
Then we can find out what chipset you have, which will determine the correct driver for you.

Note how Linksys uses chipsets from several different manufacturers. And you can see links to the various driver packages. Some of these drivers are already in DSL, some are not.
DSL does not have a dedicated driver for Atmel-based adapters, but I have compiled dsl packages for both the Sourceforge and berliOS drivers for Atmel.

I just saw your post in "Verified Wireless Cards".
Your D-Link DWL-G122 will have a Prism chipset if it's revision A1 or A2, so DSL's linux-wlan-ng driver may work (prism2_usb) although I suspect DSL's version may be too old to support the newer G versions.

Or if you have revision B, your chipset is Ralink. You will have to use ndiswrapper for this.

but i already returned the Dlink usb-stick to the shop where i bought it...
