I have loaded DSL 1.3 into my Compaq IA-1 attempting to use  a DWL122 and a Linksys WUSB54G.  Neither one of these USB adapters work with the rekease of NDISWRAPPER provided with DSL on any machine ,,,,  in borh cases NDISWRAPPER -l syys the driver is installed but hte hardware in NOT PRESENT.  The DWL122 works with MiDORI and OPERA,,, it has a PRISM3 chipset.  I believe the NDISWRAPPER provided in DSL does NOT support USB devices ... I am writing this message via Knoppix 4.0 and my DWL122.  Are there any plans to backport the latest release of NDISWRAPPER to DSL ?

Thanks

Sorry eljudo, I missed that you were asking specifically about ndiswrapper, and not a dedicated driver.

GaTk,
You mention a DWL122, not DWL-G122 like eljudo's.  I have the DWL122 myself, and it definitely works with DSL's linux-wlan-ng drivers.  See here - < http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....;t=7909 >

Regarding your Linksys WUSB54G, if you have the early version with PrismGT chipset there's a good chance DSL's prism54 driver will work ... though you may have to troubleshoot some missing firmware files as nevc64 posted here - < http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....;t=6753 >

Rempestuos

Thanks for thr pointer... I'll give the WLAN stuff a try,,, BTW... the linksys USB adapter has an rt2500 chipset....ie the WIN drivers are named rt2500USB abd
I am writing this with that adapter via Knoppix,  I reakky like  DSL and want to
make it work,  Standby while I geve WLAN etc a try.

Thanks again

ok guys, heres my full unedited, hardcore story.. well maybe not full, since i am at work.

DWL-g122 WILL NOT work with any flavour of ndiswrapper that comes with any DSL release. After many sleepless nights, and re installing ndiswrapper as well directly from tar, and compiling. trying multiple drivers as stated in ndiswrapper install faq... i gave up.

downloaded a ndiswrapper look alike. Driverloader.  after compiling driver loaded it asked me for my windows .inf file , the one i used ndiswrapper with.  lappy froze, restarted pc, and wireless lan came on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

only downside is that driverloader costs 19 bucks.. comes with a free 30 day trial.

so its not too bad.

if anyone here ever gets the DWL-G122 USB hardware rev A2 to work with ndiswrapper, i would love to know!!

eljudo,
DWL-G122 revA2 with ndiswrapper 1.1 success here - < http://blogs.zymeta.com/roller/page/dr/20050330 >

... another thought ... although your chipset is the uncommon Prism3 SSF, it's presumably part of the Prism2/2.5/3 family, so it's possible that linux-wlan-ng may work.  Try it - "sudu modprobe prism2_usb" then DSLpanel, then Prism2.

Also, there's a lesser-known dedicated driver for the Prism2/2.5/3 - HostAP - < http://hostap.epitest.fi/ >
