I have found that my NIC/modem card (3Com 3CCFEM556B) gives an error regarding too many levels of symbolic links when card services starts up during booting. The modem isn't detected by pppconfig & entering different ports (ttyS0/1/2...) doesn't make it work.

I have traced the error to the fact that in etc/pcmcia/cis all the files are linked to files in KNOPPIX/etc/pcmcia/cis. Now this would normally be OK, except that from v0.7.3 on the files in KNOPPIX/etc/pcmcia/cis are in themselves links to files in KNOPPIX/etc/pcmcia/cis!?!?!?!

I see from the changelog that this is when cardmgr was updated. Looks like when the DSL system was remastered there it included the version of the directory with the links & not the one with the files.

Does anyone know if dropping the missing files into directory 'cis' & remastering will solve the problem (& can it be included in the next update please)
