Iīm using P II, 300MHz, 32 MB RAM, 3GB hdd, DSL is installed on hd (not on partition)

I used to haw a windows 98se on it that run firefox fairly good.
it runs almost as good on it , a bit slower but crashes down after couple of minuts of running.   What to do?  PS: Dillo works fairly well but u canīt browse all pages with it e.g. hotmail.com .

With 32M of RAM, I've found Opera to be the best bet.  You're right, Dillo is a bit limited and Firefox didn't seem to run well with limited RAM.

Here is a link to the .uci extension of opera.

I also think opera works a little better than firefox on my machine (233mhz 128mb). Here is a thread about the latest version of opera being add free.

It is not a matter of RAM, I have 256 Mb on my computer and Firefox crashes very quickly, and I tried the default one on DSL, 1.04 without gtk2, 1.06, 1.5, and all behave badly.
I also think Opera is better and it should replace Firefox now that it is free,  but there is a problem with DSL that provokes that Firefox crashes and it may affect other programs too.

I think in Mehine2's case it is a problem of RAM.  Firefox is a known memory hog.  Right now, on my machine, Firefox is using 27Mb of RAM.  I think something else is going on with your Firefox or maybe even your DSL install if it is crashing, palloco.  I have installed DSL on numerous machines (the least of which had 64MB of RAM) and never had a problem with Firefox crashing.  I must admit that I am not familiar with Opera, but from what I have read it is much faster than Firefox.

The original opera6.1.2 UCI extension should work fine on that system.

For some reason, it is no longer listed in the repository.  Opera 6.12 is preferred for older computers because it runs faster than the newer Opera versions.

You can still get the opera6.1.2.tar.gz  extension from the NET section of the myDSL system, but you should create a swap partition or a swap file or do a full hard drive installation if you want to use this program in tar.gz format and only have 32MB of RAM.

Please read the info file.  You should redefine your home page as something else like google.com or www.damnsmalllinux.org because the default Opera page has annoying popups by default.
