hello finally after like 6 hours of read and researching i finally got dsl running from disk!!! - wow isn't that amazing consider that i;m not a computer guy at all!!!

now, can someone help me with my wireless card? its a microsoft mn-7100 wireless adapter plugged up to the usb port, how can i get that running? if that works i might get a flash drive from dsl!

I looked up <<MN-7100 linux>> on google.com to try to find out what chipset your wireless adapter uses in order to be able to help you, but my search got no results. Open up a terminal window and type <<lsusb>> with your wirless adapter plugged into your usb port. <<lsusb>> should tell you the hardware details about anything plugged into any usb port attatched to your computer. Look for the listing about your wireless card and post it on here, and I'lll try to help you. If you type <<lsusb>> and you can't tell which listing is your wireless card, just post everything that <<lsusb>> outputs and maybe I will be able to tell which one it is. The way I generally get any hardware I buy working on linux is to do <<lspci>> or if it uses usb I do <<lsusb>> and then that tells me what chipset the hardware uses. Then I do a google search for that <<chipset linux>> and see where I can download a linux driver for it, and then I follow the instructions provided with the driver's source on how to install it. Anyway, the first step is to identify what chipset it uses, and your best bet in finding that out is to plug it in and type <<lsusb>> in a terminal window.

ok thanks i will try that:;):

i found out that the card is a 802.11g USB (2.0) and uses a Prism 54 chipset.

Your MN-710 is a difficult beast. If it does, in fact, contain a Prism54 chipset variation then it will not be supported by the prism54 driver already in DSL (originally from < http://prism54.org/) > because this does not support USB.
There is separate USB development of this driver at < http://jbnote.free.fr/prism54usb/ > ... but unfortunately this version can only be compiled under the 2.6 kernel. (DSL has a 2.4 kernel).

There's a remote chance that ndiswrapper might work. At their compatibility webpage the Microsoft MN-720 is listed - < http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/List > but this adaptor has a Broadcom chipset, so is completely different to yours.

If you want a USB adaptor, I suggest you buy a Prism2/2.5/3 based USB adaptor from Netgear or D-Link. These are supported by the prism2_usb driver already in DSL.
