When I run DSL at home on pppoe adsl, there is no activity (which is what i expect when not up/downloading)

Can anyone explain why the desktop bandwidth indicator has a constant upload between 7k to 15 k/s on the lan at work? I have run netstat but there are no connections?

On high volume/bandwidth networks, you will sometimes get what I call "tidal activity" which is usually just the traffic of the network maintaining itself.

The larger the network, the more activity there is to keep it all connected and runnin'
