HiI would like to install a vncserver on my dslbox. Which packets are necessary? Can anybody explain how to install? Thx Joe Posted by newOldUser on Oct. 12 2005,16:35
JoE,You're new so let me give you a little help. Try doing a search on the forums. The SEARCH button is at the top of the page. Click on it. Enter a keyword, like VNCSERVER, have it search all forums, and use the drop down box to have it search from the start of the year or the beginning. You'll find lots of posts about VNCserver. Here's a link to kist one of them: < VNC SERVER Topic > You'll need to download the VNC server module by clicking on the MyDSL icon on your desktop while you are online. I don't remember exactly where it is but it is labeled as the VNCserver. Once you download the module two icons will be placed on your desktop, if my memory is correct. They will start the server for you. Good luck and welcome to the DSL forum. Posted by [JoE] on Oct. 12 2005,21:11
HiThx for your answer. My problem is that I haven't a mouse. So i must install vncserver in textmode. Because Dsl is really damn small i don't know which packets i need (perl, initscripts..). Lg Joe Posted by Your Fuzzy God on Oct. 12 2005,22:54
You can download the VNC dsl file here: http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/damnsmall/mydsl/net/vnc4x-1.4.6.dslThen use "mydsl-load" to load the package. Good Luck, Posted by [JoE] on Oct. 13 2005,12:39
HiEm how i can auto execute the vncserver at startup? Joe Posted by Your Fuzzy God on Oct. 13 2005,15:30
I have never actually run vnc on startup, but I would first run vncpasswd to set a password then add the line "vncserver" to your bootlocal.sh file. This should start vncserver on boot.
