Hi,
I'm new to the Forum and just had my first DSL installation on Hard Disk (X has some problems with the colors but I'm going to fix that....)
and I couldn't get my Firefox to run a Java Applett.. Everytime I try to load one, Firefox crashes (exits without any warning) and sometimes the hole x environment crashes, can somebody tell me what to do?

I installed Jre like this
Code Sample

rm -rf /usr/local/lib/jdk-1.4
mkdir /usr/local/lib/jdk-1.4
cd /usr/local/lib/jdk-1.4
cp /root/j2eesdk-1_4.bin .
chmod -R 755 /usr/local/lib/jdk-1.4
chown -R nobody:staff /usr/local/lib/jdk-1.4
su nobody -c ./j2eesdk-1_4.bin

(I used jdk-1.5.... instead so the file and directory names are different)
thats how I did it on my debian system.
and then I tried to link it like this
Code Sample
ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_01/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so

only the path is different

what can I do?

(Sorry for not speaking your language so well, if you can't understand what I'm trying to say, please tell, I'll give it another shot then ^^)

Hi
Wow, I would do it the easy way.
Grab the jre uci from the repository, use mydsl to load it, then create the following link in /opt/.firefox_plugins

libjavaplugin_oji.so -> /opt/jre1_5_0/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so

If you want it every time add /opt/.firefox_plugins to your .filetool.lst for backup

At least that is what I think I did.
good luck

Hi again
It's even easier than that.  The jre uci has the link already in it.
grab it and go.
good luck

Hi,
first of all thanks for the help!
I tried using MyDSL but when it comes to the final download button ist says:
NON DSL USER!
I created the user using "adduser" from comand line.
Any Idea how to solve that prob?

I just tried doing it as root and as the standart user I created on install but both passwords didn't work!!! oO how can I fix that???!

I changed the root password now I can login as root but still the MyDSL error:
NON DSL USER ERROR!
