Greetings!

I am new to DSL.  I have a friend with an old Compaq Armada 7370 Laptop that he would like to use to surf the net and take tlecourses on.  He spends a lot of time at home with his disabled father.  He only cares to get browsing.

People over in the #ubuntu IRC suggested I give DSL a spin after failing both Ubuntu and MEPISLite attempts.  The poor laptop only has 32Mb of memory to work with.

Not knowing any better, my friend bought a pcmcia usb adaptor for the laptop and a usb cable to plug in to his cable modem.  The pcmcia usb card didn't come with Windows 98 drivers.  I can get far enough in both Ubuntu and MEPISLite to know that they both recognize the usb card, so I presume that DSL won't have any trouble either.

Providing that the USB works as I presume it will, then what I need next (from my googling around) is something called USBNET.

Does DSL have it?
Can I add it then?
Am I even heading in the right direction here?

Thanks ever so much!!!
