a dsl dhcp serverForum: Networking Topic: a dsl dhcp server started by: outanet Posted by outanet on Nov. 27 2005,01:08
DSL used in the house on a johns toy terrabyte server with a 128Mb ide flash and 2 ext usb drives and love it. Ive come to require a dhcp server rather sharpish as the office windows one has died, and thought that dsl could do the job, i see that there are no dsl extentions, is it possible before the release time on the office pcs expire? Im genuinly suprised, i thought a dsl dhcp server would be something quite common and simple, but no reply as yet!i feel have to resort to finding a windows disk, or has anyone got a suggestion? (Ill use an NT4 licence and avoid repayingM$ but using DSL would make so much sence wouldnt it?) Posted by SaidinUnleashed on Nov. 27 2005,21:33
Use something like Coyote or Devil Linux.Something meant for networking. DSL is a desktop-oriented distro, and not suitable for dedicated networking tasks. -J.P. Posted by hawki on Nov. 27 2005,22:14
HiI did a quick Google search on "debian dhcp server" . It should be easy to install it using apt-get and following any of several instructions. I personally let my router do the dhcp work. Good luck |
