I've just decided to take the plunge into the vast ocean that is Linux. It all seems to work okay except for one little snag - I can't dial up.

I've configured my ISP details using the PPP config program, but this wouldn't detect my modem. I've told it on which port to look for the modem (COM2), but when I go to dial up it returns with a script error.

Am I doing something wrong?

If your modem is not a winmodem it should work.

However, the DSL serial port number does not always correspond to the correct COM number.

So try all of them...

ttyS0
ttyS1
ttyS2
ttyS3
ttyS4
etc

Okay, I'll give that a go. Thanks  :)

FYI,

Someone here reported that their modem was assigned to ttyS14 and they were able to learn this by looking at the PCI tab of the "System Stats" program.
