Hi folks,

I downloaded and toasted DSL current as bootable iso.

starting the live DSL by typing on the boot prompt: dsl toram

works fine with my old gericom (webboy pIII, 1GHz, 256mb-ram) laptop

when trying to run it on my new Gericom (Phantom 31100, AMD sempron +3100, 1.8GHz, 1gb-ram ) the boot process stops/hangs after initial boot.

It hangs after the message:
Accessing DSL image at /dev/scd0

The onyl remedy is to make a cold start: OFF/ON
otherwise my laptop hangs till the end of time....

I used the same cd on both laptops

Old laptop OK :)
New lapotop FAILS :(

Thank you in advance for your help !

Does

dsl acpi=off

work?

How about:

failsafe

for a boot code?

Thank you very much.

it works better than what I tried else :
dsl base toram

which started dsl but no network connection.

with your proposition: dsl acpi=off toram

worked fine, even connected to the web :)

what does acpi=off switch off and what is acpi
answer just in a nutshell, i know its off topic, and
I will go after it when I got some time.

ThanX and merry X-mas :)

ACPI doesn't seem to play nice with some computer motherboards.

For a definition, see here:
