I'm trying to make the most of an old Sony Vaio picturebook which currently runs Windows 98 and Win2K (slowly) ...I've installed GRUB to allow me to load DSL and can now successfully boot an ISO image. I'd like to be able to use a screen res of 1024 by 480 which the vaio supports, or 1024 x 768 with the screen scrolling. Can anyone give me any clues as to how I can do this ... I was hoping for a vga= cheat code but am thinking it might not be possible due to the non standard nature of the screen res. Alternatively, can I modify a config file or two and reintroduce them into the ISO image to make it work ? Any advice would be appreciated ... thanks tim Posted by RoGuE_StreaK on Jan. 05 2006,08:30
Boot with a normal res, then edit home/dsl/.xserverrc, changing the res to the one you want. Alt-Ctrl-Backspace to exit X, then type startx to restart the X server. Hopefully it works (works with my new widescreen lappie, booted 1024x768, changed to 1280x800, restart X and it works fine). Then if you backup .xserverrc, it should boot with this setting. |
