Unusually light screen?Forum: Laptops Topic: Unusually light screen? started by: JimSardonic Posted by JimSardonic on Jan. 02 2006,00:59
Hello, and thanks in advance for any help you can give me.I've been looking for a decent linux distro for an old Dell Latitude CP M233XT -- and I like DSL. I've been able to get it to boot, except, once everything loads, it's very light. Light to the point where I can't make out what it is. Even with the laptop's brightness adjusted all the way to dark, it's just too light to see. I'd assume I need to fix something in xorg.config, but I'm too newb to know what it is. Any ideas? Thanks again, Jim - Happy New Year Posted by xmikeox on Jan. 02 2006,02:03
You know what? I have no idea how to fix your problem but I know how bad it is to not have any one respond to your posts so I wanted to cheer you up by adding a reply on your post. Please help me out also in "apps" topic is "DAMN YOU YAHOOOOO!"

Heh, much appreciated.Like I say, I'm quite the newb, but I'd be more than happy to take a look. Perhaps lightning will strike, and I'll have a logical fix for you. It's the thought that counts anyway, right? ;) - Jimbo Posted by JimSardonic on Jan. 02 2006,02:36
Looking through numerous internet sites, I've found that it's most likely my vertical refresh rate that is the problem.Where can I change this? It appears there is no xorg.conf for fluxbox? Posted by JimSardonic on Jan. 02 2006,03:41
...and then it dawned on me. Duh.This is not a fluxbox issue, this happens in the command line, too. What could I possibly change about the resolution of DSL? Am I better off just trying a different distro? - Jimbo Posted by JimSardonic on Jan. 02 2006,06:19
should anyone come across this again, it's a resolution problem.from the boot: screen, I had to pass the dsl vga= in order to alleviate the problem. Posted by dirtvoyles on Jan. 18 2006,03:55
I had the same issue until I used fb800x600.

during boot you should use the boot option dsl xsetup ( i think that is the one). After a while you may be asked whether you like xvesa xserver orxfbdev xserver. Try xfbdev. |
