Thinkpad T41 suspend - resume problem on DSL 2.0Forum: Laptops Topic: Thinkpad T41 suspend - resume problem on DSL 2.0 started by: subarus Posted by subarus on Jan. 02 2006,12:37
Hi,Can someone give me hint how to solve my of trackpoint not responding after resuming from suspend problem on DSL2.0? The workaround is to Control-Alt-Delete to exit fluxbox and relaunching it with 'startx'. Other power management feature such as suspend-resume of peripheral, thermal management, hardisk screen seems to be working fine. Suspend was not working for me in DSL1.5 therefore battery was draining even with lid closed. so I dont have problem with trackpoint not responding when i re-open the lid I know that suspend-resume is working for knoppix which is kernel 2.6, I dont know if full functionality of resume is possible for kernel 2.4 variants. If there is no solution for proper resume of trackpoint in kernel 2.4, can someone show me how to disable all suspend feature? using Boot: dsl noacpi noapm OR dsl noapm OR dsl noacpi does not get prevent suspend when lid is closed. the main reason I moved to DSL2.0 because kismet is working with centrino and yahoo send mail is working properly. thank you for your kind attention subarus Posted by cbagger01 on Jan. 03 2006,11:44
Doesdsl acpi=off work any better than noacpi? Posted by subarus on Jan. 04 2006,11:16
nope it still goes into standby when the lid is closed

Can you disable SUSPEND mode in your laptop's BIOS?

yes I could disable the suspend in bios but I dont want to do that because it dual boots with XP in which suspend/hibernate-resume works just fine. The thing is I can see the apmd process running but I can't stop it with 'kill -9'. I also failed to find the launching of this process in the /etc/r*.* so I can inhibit it. if all else fail I will (reluctantly) revert back to dsl 1.5, because I am having problem composing yahoo email. Basically firefox just dont allow me to compose yahoo email in 1.5 subarus Posted by cbagger01 on Jan. 06 2006,04:39
The apmd process appears even when booting withdsl acpi=off noapm ? If you change your yahoo account settings for MAIL to "compose in plain text" and turn OFF autocomplete, does it still give you trouble? Posted by subarus on Jan. 06 2006,13:07
nope, that dont cut it.but its ok, I can use opera to send messages as a temporary workaround. thanks for trying to help.. really appreciate it. |
