did you burn it as "data cd" or "cd image"If you look at the cd and see a filename current.iso...you burned wrong You should burn the cd as an "image" not as a data file Brian AwPhuch Posted by paark on Jan. 20 2006,16:24
I burned it as an image. There are three folder inside (knoppix, boot, lost and found)

It's ASUS D1 - qsi atapi cdrom 24x and I have one more question. Will DSL recognise my thumbdrive which is a MP3 player.(muvo tx/fm) Posted by Guest on Jan. 25 2006,04:24
I have the same player and it finds it, as normal usb storage drive, no drivers needed.

Did you have a look at the DSL Wiki site?< DSL Wiki > There's a part "Documentation" which is very usefull for getting started. Posted by charly on Feb. 11 2006,13:43
Hi, I had the same problem with Asus (new DSL-CD, but always Windows showing up) but it turned out to be not the fault of the notebook but my own: Somewhere I read that it is necessary to switch off the "Quick boot" in your BIOS and now it's working without problems . When active, Quick boot will always overrun your own choice of the booting device... Good luck! charly PS: I admit I'm new on Linux, too, and it took quite a lot of searching to find this trick! Hi,one more thing: Do you use ESC for booting or F9? (Probably it's the same on your Asus as on my A6) When pressing F9 you will get the recovery (of your XP), with ESC you can choose the booting device. Perhaps you could tell us if it worked Charlotte I forgot: Thanks to Brian! I managed to burn a "real" CD with your hint after having spoiled one using "bootable CD" on Nero... |
