Hi, I've recently been loaned a Dell Inspiron 630m which is not a bad piece of kit.

As someone who's very interested in the nomadic possiblities offered by DSL USB booting, I was very disappointed to find that DSL wouldn't even boot from CD on that machine unless the nousb cheatcode was specified.

Any advice on how to troubleshoot this and get USB working on this machine would be very appreciated.  I've tried the latest versions of Kanotix and CPX-MINI on the same box and they won't even boot, even in failsafe and text mode, which I find remarkable.

Solved!

After reading some other postings in the laptops section, I tried acpi=off and that did the trick!
