Just a little note to any / all deciding on a network card for the laptop. I have a Netgear WG511v2 card working nicely with WEP on an old Dell Latitude P2 era.

How? I did a lot of Live boots from the CD until I got the correct parameters for the display / etc ( 1024x768 by 32K using xfbdev ).

On the wireless front, I'm using the Windows2K file WG511v2.INF and the NDIS wrapper. I have WEP running, but the WAP needs to be WEP-shared ( not WEP-open ) for it to work.

I also need to alter the default grub install on my destop - I had to mount another partition over /boot/grub then I could alter menu.1st and then run grub-install again. Note for the admins / develeopers sometimes I had problems trying to run this as the cloop device was not in BIOS !!!!! I could not find a switch to disable this

HTH someone / anyone  trying to decide how / which network card to use with DSL.

Keith

Orinoco gold or silver seems to be a popular choice here.
