The title says it: The USB Port of my Acer Aspire 1360 does not see my no-name USB-Stick when I boot with the Live-CD.
I tried to mount it as sdx (whereas x is a to d) and sdx1, also with and without the options -t and vfat.
fdisk -l only shows my harddisks and dmesg does not show sth. unusual except for an IRQ-rooting conflict between the IRQs 10 and 11.
When I boot DSL (2.0) I get the message "can't locate module block-major-2" twice while detecting hardware.
I scanned the internet on quick help; none was found. I even bothered the (really nice) guys in the kanotix-channel also, they could not help me.
You are my last resort here...
Any suggestions?

The correct one should be /dev/sda1 and mount on /mnt/sda1... please use Emelfm for checking and mount.  For the message "can't locate module block-major-2",  that means your laptop does not have FDD. It is not a big issue. Try again and update. :;):

I already tried that over and over, did not work.  :(

You might try to grab the USBview from the System section of the repository and see if that shows anything.

Indeed, I tried earlier and it showed the USB-Port. However, when I plugged the stick in nothing changed, even after refresh. But that was some time ago that I tried. Were you looking for sth. special?
By the way: I had another look at the dmesg (?) and it showed problems with IRQ 11, which some devices had to share. Could that be connected to the problem somehow or is that normal?

If your USB controller is using IRQ 11 it could be a problem.

Maybe you can reassign it from within the BIOS, or try some linux kernel boot parameters to change IRQ assignment.

That is the problem with an Acer Aspire, I guess: I cannot make these kind of choices in the BIOS, it does not even show a list of IRQs.
I reckon that is what is meant by "designed for MS Windows": Nothing else will work. ;-)
Even if I could change sth. in the Bios though, it still would be strange that I have the USB-Stick under some other Live-Distros than DSL.
About the cheatcodes: Do you have sth. particular in mind?
Thanks anyway so far.

No, but maybe you can find some here, especially in the PCI section:

I do not want to be ungrateful, but I think I am still not experienced enough to understand that stuff.
Thanks anyway.
