Hi all-

I'm relatively new to linux, but I've been using FC4 for a while now, and I recently bought an old Dell Latitude XPi CD with 166MHz, 32MB RAM and 2.1GB HDD so I could play around with it.  I want to install DSL (and probably upgrade the RAM) and I'm really just looking for some expertise from those wiser than myself about installing & running linux on an older machine...

Any advice from the avatars around here?  Thanks a lot!

Try these links:

Grub installation wiki:

Frugal installation pdf:

Also on hardware configuration whatever parameters you need to specify on that machine while running the live CD will also be needed during your install. So take notes to help you out during install... Good luck!

Thanks for the replies, but I managed to get it up and running all by myself!   :D
Needless to say, as an install newbie it took me about 12 hours this last weekend and numerous failed attempts, but I finally managed to get it up and running and I even customized it a little bit!
DSL rocks!

now, I'm just waiting on a PCMCIA network card and hopefully (fingers crossed) I can get directly online...
