First off... I am a total noob to installing Linux. I used it a little bit when a friend of mine installed it on a server I had, but he did most of the work.

I need to install DSL on a 10-year old laptop, that has .8Gb memory and 40Mb RAM. I was wondering if there was any way to do a full DSL install from floppy, and exactly how I would do it. Unfortunately, my laptop absolutely refuses to boot from CD, so I am forced to do it this way. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: sorry, I thought you meant the cdrom was faulty...

Poor man's install.
Downloading the image and copying it on your hard disk and give the correct boot options.
The developers may be more accurate than me.

Go to the dsl wiki and check out creating a boot floppy, then install from cdrom. Enjoy!

Does the cd drive work? There is another way you should try, you have the dsl cd? And floppy drive? Why dont you download the bootfloppy image and write it to floppy and boot with it (cd of course in cdive)? It should work. Or you can boot with tomsrootboot(Something like that) and copy the files from cd to hard drive and do a loadlin install (wiki tells more).
