Hi,I'm trying to install my Wlan card in DSL - I've got a PII 333 mhz with a pcmcia wlan card. i can install the drivers for my card then modprobe ndiswrapper with no errors i check dmesg and I have the following error message: ------------------------------------- ndiswrapper version 0.10 loaded (preempt=no, smp=yes) ndiswrapper (NdisMAllocateSharedMemory:997): Failed to allocate DMA coherent memory. Windows driver requested 2042 bytes of cached memory ndiswrapper (NdisWriteErrorLogEntry:196) ndiswrapper (ndis_init_one_pci:1458): Windows driver couldn't initialize the device ------------------------------------- Having a look at this seems like the memory cannot be allocated. I have 64mb of ram with 17.3 used. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do ? Posted by doobit on April 26 2006,17:26
And what card would that be?

Ok It's a Protac WLB-1100 IEEE802.11b 11Mbps Wireless LANand the version of DSL is 2.3 The file i use for ndiswrapper is Netr8180.inf and rtl8180.sys Posted by doobit on April 27 2006,12:54
Can you download and try DSL 2.4RC2? It has a newer Ndiswrapper that may help, although your card seems like it should work with the old one. Here is a How To by someone who got it to work in another distro that may help you: < http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux....i_HOWTO > Posted by gvs on May 01 2006,05:28
Ok I tried with DSL 2.4 and an earlier version DSL 2.2 same problem.I'm sure its to do with the amount of memory i have. I have 60mb useable. Does anyone know what else to try - is there a way to prioritize ndiswrapper to take more memory ? |
