I have a  Panasonic CF-25 with a 166mhz Pent and 96mb of ram and a 3gig HD. It is running Win98 and I'd need to keep 98 on it for some radio programming I do. I'd like to pu DSL on a partition on the drive, but the CDROM on the computer is not bootable.
I have a USB laptop drive encloseure that I can put the HD in and plug it to one of my other computers.

This was my plan. Resize the laptops partition with PMagic or WInXp's partition tool. format the partition FAT32 and copy the DSL ISO on to the drive partiton.

Bott from floppy and install from HD.

Is this possible? Any better Ideas? DO I need to point the boot floppy to the Image on the drive? I'm pretty new at this.

You may be able to boot from floppy and install from CDROM.  Just because your BIOS won't boot up via CDROM doesn't mean that the DSL imaged boot floppy will not find the KNOPPIX files on your CDROM inserted into the drive.

Otherwise, if you copy the contents of the KNOPPIX folder to C:\KNOPPIX on your FAT32 partition (should be the first partition, or /dev/hda1), you can boot from the DSL floppy and it will find the files on your hard drive and use them to load DSL and also for the HD-install script.

Good Luck.
