Hi everybody,

first I'd like to thank everybody giving advice here. It has already helped me geting dsl started on my laptop without having to bother anyone with Newbie-questions.
It's a german speciality
Medion MD9888
P II 233 MhZ
32 MB Ram
2 GB HD

When DSL is up and running I can't use the mouse or the touchpad. I tried to use the keyboard instead, but I did not find out how to do that.
While searching the forum last night I stumbled upon a thread where someone had to change some file to get the touchpad working. But now I can't find that thread anymore, so I'll have to ask.

After all the stuttering, what I'm looking for is help on getting the touchpad or the PS2 mouse working.

TIA
Jörg

Try this:

When you are in X then press [crtl] + [alt] + [backspace]
typ in the terminal 'xsetup.sh'
go through this setup and chose the best answers (at the question "USB mouse" do "No" and on "PS2 mouse" do "Yes")
then typ when your back at the terminal 'startx'.

If everything worked out, it should be ok now.

i´ve got an problem with my touchpad aswell (on an old Acer Note light 370C). The touchpad freezes after a while (ca. 30 min) an i am not able to fix it. i guess it is a hardware problem. Well, what i have done, was switching the desktop to jwm, then editet the .jwmrc in the /home/dsl directory to make the root menu available via keystroke. works nearly perfect for me. nearly means, i still have to do some stuff like finding out which applications can be uses with the keyboard only. at least i am able to start the applications i want. my opinion is that an proper os doesn´t need a mouse at all. so i am willing to try a remaster, where everything can be accessed via keyboard commands an no mouse is needed.

if anyone is interessted in helping me with that - you are welcome ;-)

kind regards
escay
