resolution change for a libretto?Forum: Laptops Topic: resolution change for a libretto? started by: pea Posted by pea on July 23 2006,14:25
Hello!I've got dsl running on an (old) toshiba libretto 100ct (166MHz, 2.1GB, 32MB) which has a screen with a native resolution of 800x480. when i boot dsl, it uses a resolution of 800x600 and i can't see the bottom of the workspace! xvesa doesn't work (at all---colours go all funny), so i'm using the xfbdev thing, selected from grub. i have a hdd frugal install. if you can think of a way i can make the resolution more usable, i'd be glad to hear it! thanks! Can you get that resolution by manually editing ~/.xserverrc ?

ah yes ok. i nanoed .xserverrc and added the parameter -screen 800x480x16, which i thought might do the trick, but no luck it's really annoying because in other respects, i'm quite impressed with dsl!when i boot the machine, the only way i can get it to work even partly is to choose the option labelled DSL fb800x600... is there a way i can make a `DSL fb800x480' in grub? thanks for your help p p.s., just examined grub a bit more closely, and there are the parameters `vga=somenumber'. does anyone know the code for 800x480??
