Well, all I know is that it's a toshiba satellite 2515CDS, xmms gives the standard 'no workie' error, and dmesg doesn't give any hints that I recognize. Anybody have any tips or tricks to try?

I found out that the machien has a Yamaha OPL3-SA3 sound chip onboard.

See:< http://damnsmalllinux.org/cgi-bin....91;st=5 > You may need to change the addresses / io ports. I got the ones used in the above post from windows device manager - not sure how to get them otherwise - try a google search if the settings in the above post don't work. I found quite a few people listed the dma & dma2 settings the opposite way round, so be sure to check any if you have to use google. Andrew. Posted by teitoku on Aug. 21 2006,18:59

You may find you still can't control all the audio channels correctly as there is a bug in the current DMIX & docked.lua (the file that sets up the dock in the bottom right of the screen) which certainly affects my Libretto. If you are having trouble with the sound system open a terminal window & type the command:umix -q If there are 2 or more mixer devices listed let me know & I'll send you the modifications that are needed to get the sound sysytem working fully. I've reported this issue to John so hopefully the next release will have it sorted. Posting a copy of the output to the above command would be useful, just to ensure my modifications will work with your system. |
