I would like to try and install DSL on this laptop, as it is a Damn Small Laptop!

It has a 11" display, Pentium processor, 64MB RAM, 2GB HD, attached floppy drive, and a CD drive that attaches via a PCMCIA card and it's less than 1" thick and weighs less than 3 pounds.

I have never used DSL before and some instruction on how to get DSL booted and installed on a machine with this configuration would be greatly appreciated. I assume that I'd make a boot floppy and start there. Can DSL then recognize and install from the PCMCIA attached CD drive?

Follow up: I discovered that this laptop has a bios setting to boot from the PCMCIA CD drive. I downloaded the latest release iso's for both the  isolinux and syslinux versions and made boot CDs. Both of these boot up to the first prompt fine but when continuing the install they both end up at "Can't find KNOPPIX filesystem..." and drop to a "...very limited shell."

Where do I go from here?

I don't think DSL searches pcmcia devices for the dsl image...
I wonder if it would work if you boot with "install" or "tohd="
If not, you can always manually copy the cd contents over to your hard drive.
Or see the wiki for other alternative installation methods.
