I'm trying to set up some of the drivers I need to install a, ethernet card on an old laptop, I unzipped and burn the files into a cd from another laptop WINXP OS but when I put the cd to the old laptop to install the drivers I need to the ethernet card I can't see the files when I access the cdrom, is there anyway I can access the CD rom and see the files to select them as we do in windows, I'm pretty new to linux but learning fast I want to start learning more but trying with the old laptop first. Any ideas? I install DSL-N to the hard drive and working great but I want to get internet access. the system shows the card but "no drivers or information available". the card I'm trying to install is a USRobotic Cardbus 10/100 Ethernet PC Card. Thank you. the laptop I'm using is a Micron Pentium II.

Mount the cdrom by using the mount tool in the bottom right corner. Then navigate to /mnt/yourcdromhere (you can use emelFM)btw, there's DSL-N forums too: < http://damnsmalllinux.org/dsl-n/f/ > Posted by usadn24 on Oct. 13 2006,17:16
thank you, I looked into the mounting tool but my CDROM is not listed there for some reason, could it be an error when I installed the OS to the laptop? I will look into the other forum as well, once again, thank you

I seem to remember another user who was having this problem. Can't remember it exactly but I believe he created another folder for his cdrom in /mntAnyways, if you want to try mounting it 'manually' in a terminal, sudo mkdir /mnt/scd0 sudo mount /dev/scd0 /mnt/scd0 and browse through /mnt/scd0 Of course 0 could be 1, etc. depending on how many you have are recognized and the order |
