I am a complete newbie but got dsl frugal intall up and running on my thinkpad i1400.  Found out if I use cheat code for vga=789 (32 bit) my wheelmouse works with both Dillo and Firefox, but the install defaults to 788.  If I edit the display mode with the bash editor and change it to 789 and then "b" for boot it works for that session but reverts back to 788 after shutdown.  How do I save this edit or the setting or use cheat codes with frugal install?
I have a Yamaha sound card IBM oem, which dsl doesn't have a driver for, any help to get sound up on a thinkpad??
I have sylfeed email up and my wifi card, Orinico working so I am very pleased with dsl so far.  Thanks to all the developers and contributors for what you have accomplished!

bash editor?  Maybe you mean grub?
If so, edit .../boot/grub/menu.lst and change the entry as you did in the editor

What's your sound chipset?

Thank you for the help!  I am sorry I am still learning terminology.  You might have to walk me through the edit.  I will look around and see if I can get my chipset displayed so I can write you back with that information.
I got into system stats and there is a listing for "charset" which shows iso-8859-1
sound driver it shows ad1848
The machine is a pentium II 300 with 192 meg ram

Use any text editor like beaver.

Try modprobe ad1848 though I suspect it could already be loaded (check lsmod)
