Press f2 and/or f3 to try boot codes for you machine.Might be you need noacpi boot option. Then again, you may need to use the syslinux version of the cdrom. Posted by Taorluath on Jan. 13 2007,15:07
so uh, what's the "syslinux" version?and what does the "noacpi" option do? Posted by Taorluath on Jan. 13 2007,15:48
I used nopcmcia and I got it installed. The only problem is, now I don't know how to get the laptop to read the network card!I also have a wirless conncetor thingy that uses a USB port. It's a little wireless reciever that connects vai USB, but I can't seem to get the computer to recognize it. Posted by Jbradthomas on Jan. 15 2007,02:37
TaorluathI to have Toshiba 1555CDS and thanks to your post got DSL working. I'am new to linux thought DSL would be good place to start. Found in DSL System Stats, dmesg, ACPI disabled because BIOS 1999 or older. Maybe newer Bios available? Brad Posted by Taorluath on Feb. 14 2007,17:12

G'Day, I had the same problem with my old Toshiba laptop, it would freeze during boot, and I could only get it to work using 'nopcmcia' option. But then you obviously can't use your pcmcia cards etc.I finally found the problem. Go into the bios on the laptop and there is a setting in there regarding pcmcia. I can't recall what the options were, but I changed it to the other one, and then the laptop booted fine with full use of pcmcia slots. Cheers, Wittfella |
