xfbdev 1024x768x16 is what i want to start automatically.  also i want to my atheros card to automatically run without me typing all the commands in the terminal once it starts.  i installed it but i cant seem to adjust the xsetup file (even with sudo).  im downloading fluxubuntu and hope it runs nearly as good as dsl, but dsl is ohh sooo sweet.

- change your resolution after running xetup.sh
- add your commands to your network card to /opt/bootlocal.sh
- then backup

What media are you booting from?

see:

& follow the instructions for 'Additional Modes'. This should allow you to select the 1024x768x16 mode via a 'vga=xxx' bootcode. I'd give 791 a try first though (i.e. enter dsl vga=791 at the boot: prompt or put vga=791 in your grub/lilo startup). The first time you use this bootcode you need to run xsetup & select xfbdev as the server. After that so long as you use the correct vga=xxx bootcode you will get the correct resolution on startup.
